Social media can be a total mine field if you work in the adult industry and especially if you’re a full service sex worker or adult content creator. It’s an often told story to wake up one morning, check your feeds and discover one or more of your social media profiles has been suspended or deleted.
We’ve been victims of this ourselves.
Sadly it’s not surprising that nothing has changed. The vast majority of people working in the adult industry using mainstream social media sites are extremely careful to not run afoul of the terms of service.

But the good news, there are a growing number of sites that are being created to be social media sites for people working in the adult industry whether you’re a full service sex worker or adult content creator.

Some of these sites are more advanced then other sites but their motivations are clear – be a social media site that adult industry workers can use without fear of finding their accounts and countless hours of hard work being lost with a press of a button.
It’s also very pleasing to see there are people trying to create these sites. And let’s face it the majority of them are people who work in, used to work in or worked with other who work in the adult industry. There are a handful that have no association with the industry but we suspect they aren’t going to so successful.
No doubt somebody will point out something about money and exploitation…blah blah blah. It has to be better than the outright exploitation from the mainstream big companies who generate enormous sums of advertising revenue and then turn around one day and shut down profiles and pages.
And if they can be successful, it’s a good thing they can generate an income, their organizations get revenue so adult content creators and sex workers don’t have to rely on mainstream social media sites.

It’s encouraging to see the emergence of platforms specifically designed for this community, offering a safer space to connect and share content. These sites, often created by those with firsthand experience in the industry, aim to protect users from the arbitrary policies of mainstream platforms. While some may question their motives, they provide a much-needed alternative to the exploitation by larger corporations.
